Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky business, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually changes into a black smudge on your concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and clientele walking into a store or office will walk on the chewing gum and get it in all over your carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it is forced deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Gilbert AZ. Find information about our process below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping it off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a workable substance compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper directly under the gum residue. Then we move the scraper very slowly under the gum and the entire piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we do not use very high pressure because that might damage the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses more pressure than needed to safely clean commercial concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged much easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional gum removal service.
To remove gum from parking lots and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water power washing equipment and special soaps that allow us to clean the surface without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we can safely remove chewing gum and surface dirt all while protecting the surface. Our service will also destroy bacteria and viruses that are found in gum on concrete.
By hiring Gilbert Pressure Washing for routine maintenance commercial cleaning at your store or office, your property will have better curb appeal and your chewing gum removal problems will be over! You will also prevent damage to carpets and other flooring while also making your storefront more welcoming to visitors.
